My Story:
Behold His Story

This is His Story,
this is my song.

Hi there, and welcome,

Here is a little bit more about me — I am a literary writer, and I am also a sufferer and a lover of Christ. I write my way to remembering and to understanding, choosing to seek, remember, and behold God and His faithfulness through the chronic when life is so daily.

At the age of 27, a debilitating pain brought me to a shell-like state: Memory, mind, humor, personality, and mobility decreased with each passing day, simultaneous to receiving my dream job of teaching writing at my alma mater, Colorado State University.

“I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand.”
-Isaiah 51:6a

Nearly two years passed by way of doctor appointments, tests, and time lying on the couch or our bed—often in darkness—before I was diagnosed.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
God's special possession that you may declare the praises of Him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
-1 Peter 2:9

After seven procedures, I have improved, but I have not returned to normal. I live with severe pain, and further, I am still forgetful.

“Are your wonders known in the darkness,
or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?”
-Psalm 88:12

One Sunday, I sat in the upstairs pews in our church, where my husband and I were married in 2006, aware of this juxtaposition: His glorious radiance raining down across my face through the stained glass while I unraveled in weakness. We sang,

“Behold our God, seated on His throne.
Come, let us adore Him.
Behold our King, nothing can compare.
Come, let us adore Him.”

I write to remember. This beholding God heart posture is my story to tell of God’s faithfulness, grace, mercy, and hope in my life—His story is my story to behold.
